Global spotlight on helping world’s poor
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon opened a summit Monday with a plea to the assembled presidents, prime ministers and kings to use their power to meet U.N. goals to help the world’s poorest by 2015.
Where in Latin America should I move?

I can move anywhere from Sept-March each year. I am a single guy, looking to stretch my $ I should have 15k or so to use. I am a competetive tennis player, and like music, surfing, and relatively bohemian scenes. It would be nice to be in a place where it is easy to meet people, especially women.
Thanks for any ideas.. Also, please help with specific cities etc,a nd not just countries.

Buenos Aires without a doubt. You will love the area of San Telmo in the area of Monserrat. This is where I lived the first time I was there. It will take in your love of music (many of the top bands and singers count BsAs as their favorite city to perform) and the bohemian side will love the markets and lifestyle of areas such as San Telmo, as well as the entire city.

You could also stay somewhere a little more central such as Recoleta which puts you in one of the best areas to get around, socialise, shop, eat etc. I stayed here just a year ago and loved it.

Surfing is not going to happen there, but there are beaches (Mar del Plata) you can go to for the day/weekend. You could also take a week or so out and go up north to Punta del Este (Uruguay – I suggest around New Year and book accomodation) or to Brazil (I suggest February to take in the Carnaval (like nothing you can imagine!).

Some of the best tennis players in the world are from Argentina. Here is a link that you can use as a starting point for playing there. I suggest not organising any payment for coaching or playing until you are there or you may get ripped off (as in all countries!).

Your dollar goes quite far with the Argentine peso.
